A major conflict has again touched Europe and is bringing forth heart wrenching stories about human tragedy. I began thinking back to the Vietnam War and how American conscripts found themselves in the remote jungles of Vietnam with no sense of the place or true explanation as to why they might die. What was the cause for which they were asked to sacrifice their young lives? It must have been the most terrifying feeling in the world. In this song, I tried to convey the emotion of being placed on the front lines with no control over the history or politics that brought you here. I further imagined the disadvantage these soldiers felt they were at in taking on an 'enemy', often unseen, who was a determined foe because the battlefield was their land and time was on their side.
